Oral B Challenge Istanbul 2024 is organized according to Turkish Triathlon Federation competition rules and Challenge Family regulations.

  • Competitors must at all times follow the instructions given by race officials and police officers and pay attention to vehicle transportation. Competitors who do not comply with the instructions of race officials or police officers will be removed from the competition area and disqualified. The Race Referee have the authority to disqualify competitors.

  • Please obey all race rules and regulations at all times. Course will be closed to public access. However, emergency and organization vehicles will use these parts of the course. All road rules and regulationsmust therefore be observed at all times. Left-hand drive rules apply.

No changes in team members are permitted after August 23th 2024.Entries close on August 23th 2024.

  • The Organization Medical Team will have the final decision as to whether or not a competitor is fit to continue competing and, likewise, whether or not to withdraw from the competition.

  • No competitormay use banned substances to enhance performance, to eliminate fatigue or for any other purpose. Doping tests may be conducted.

  • It is important that all competitors demonstrate good conduct and sportsmanship and treat other competitors, event organizers, volunteers and contractors with courtesy and respect. Failure to do so may result in disqualification at any time before, during or after the competition.

  • If a competitor withdraws from the competition, they must notify course officials immediately and handle timing chip. Competitors who fail to do so and are subjected to a search and rescue operation as a result will bear all costs associated with this exercise, provided they are found in their accommodation or other safe location.

  • The Oral B Challenge Istanbul 2024 team reserves the right to change the rules, regulations, competition courses and venues at any time, provided that the athletes are informed before the competition or such a change is made for the safety of the competitor.

  • Video camera, headphones or headphones with microphones may not be used during the swimming, cycling or running stages of the competition.

  • Oral B Challenge Istanbul 2024competitors cannot compete with a bare torso.

  • Each athlete must know the entire course and it is their responsibility to follow the correct route.

  • In case of bad weather conditions, Oral B Challenge Istanbul 2024reserves the right to convert the competition to duathlon format for the safety of the competitors, but cannot be held liable for any losses as a result of such a decision. If the conditions are still considered unsafe to organize a duathlon, Oral B Challenge Istanbul 2024 has the sole discretion and may cancel the competition without any obligation to refund the entry fees.

  • Oral B Challenge Istanbul 2024 may, at its sole discretion, test any athlete for the use of bannedsubstances. A positive test will result in disqualification.

  • The assigned race numbers must be visible at all times during the race.

  • All athletes must register at their allocated times and attend the mandatory race briefing. All individuals and teams must park their bikes at their allocated times - there will be no exceptions to this rule. The race organizers reserve the right to disqualify anyone who does not comply with these rules.

  • Medals or trophies will be awarded to the top three in each age group as long as they are an official category and Relays. The age groups are: 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+ (Relays: Women Relay Team, Men Relay Team, Mix Relay Team)

SWIM RULES

  • Mandatory equipment includes a trisuit and swim cap (swim cap provided). This may be changed or added at the race meeting depending on water conditions, temperature and swim course / distance (at the absolute discretion of the race organizer).

  • Fins, snorkels and any flotation devices are not allowed. Swim goggles or face masks can be worn.

  • Needing assistance during the swim may result in disqualification.

  • The swimming course will be closed 1 hour and 30 minutes after the race start for individuals and teams.

  • The competition organizers have the right (at their sole discretion) to change the location, distance or cancel the swim course, taking into account the weather, water temperature and general water conditions.

BIKE RULES

  • Drafting is not allowed. The bicycle draft zone will be 10 meters long measured from the leading edge of the front wheel. An athlete may enter the draft zone of another athlete but must be seen to be progressing through that zone. A maximum of 20 seconds will be allowed to pass through the zone of another athlete. Several consecutive attempts to overtake with no success may lead to a drafting infringement.

  • Helmets must be secured with the chin strap before taking the bicycle off the rack and must remain on until the cyclist gets off the bicycle and puts it back on the rack.

  • Individual support is not allowed. The bike course is closed to all support traffic and no competitor may ask for or receive outside assistance from spectators, the public or any third party.

  • Each participant is responsible for the condition or repair of their own bicycle. Bicycles must have been serviced within three weeks prior to the competition and must be in safe and road worthy condition. Assistance by anyone will result in immediate disqualification. This does not allow the use of spare tires and spare bicycles and requires each competitor to be prepared for a possible mechanical failure. All bicycles must undergo a mandatory check by official technical support before the race or during registration. Only checked bicycles will be allowed to enter the transition area.

  • Cyclists are expected to follow the directions and instructions of all race officials and public authorities. Participants may run / walk with their bicycles if necessary.

  • Competitors must always stay as far to the left as practically possible and pass others on the right and must obey all traffic laws, traffic regulations and instructions of race officials and police.

  • Penalties for drafting, dangerous driving or unsportsmanlike behavior will be determined by the race official and may result in disqualification. The cycling course will close at 09:10 local time for all competitors, both teams and individuals. Event organizers reserve the right to disqualify any competitor who has not completed the cycling course by this closing time.

Draft-Illegal events:

  1. It is forbidden to draft off another athlete or motor vehicle. Athletes must reject attempts by others to draft;

  2. An athlete is entitled to any position on the course, provided they get to that position first and without contacting others. When taking a position, an athlete must allow reasonable space for others to make normal movements without making contact. Adequate space must be available before passing;

  3. An athlete who approaches from any position to take advantage of the draft, bears responsibility for avoiding the draft;

RUN RULES

  • Slower competitors should stay to the right while other competitors pass on the left.

  • Individual support vehicles or accompanying runners or cyclists who are not participants are not permitted. Friends, family members, coaches or any supporters may not cycle, drive or run alongside competitors, may not give food or other items to competitors and must be warned to stay completely away from all participants to avoid disqualification of a participant. Runners are expected tofollow the instructions and directions of all race officials and public authorities. Outside assistance is strictly prohibited and the size and nature of the penalties for such an offense are at the sole discretion of the Race Referee.

  • Competitors must comply with all traffic laws, traffic rules and instructions of the Competition officials and the Police.

  • The course will close at 10.10 am for all competitors, both teams and individuals. The event organizers reserve the right to remove any competitor who has not completed the race by this closing time.

  • The competition organizers have the right to change the location or distance of the running course (at their sole discretion), taking into account weather and course conditions.
